At Speck-Tackler Sport Fishing we pride ourselves in providing Safe, memorable, exciting and fun fishing charters. Our captain Kevin Smith has over 40 years of experience as a trusted fishing guide. His contagious enthusiasm for the sport will help you have loads of fun on our fishing charters and you may even get to learn something new about fishing! Our fishing charters are meant to cater to every kind of fishing person from the trophy hunters to inexperienced beginners. Children are welcome.
Inshore Fishing
There are plenty of tidal creeks and salt marshes from Carolina Beach to South Topsail Beach. This extensive area offers some of the best light tackle fishing spots across the North Carolina coast. The extensive waterway system running across this stretch of coastline is highly conducive to some of the best quality light tackle fishing activity across the east coast area.
Our superior performance inshore fishing charters will ensure you get the best fish catches here! Several noted species of fish can be easily caught here such as Striped Bass, Gray and Speckled Trout, Flounder, Black and Redfish (Red Drum), Bluefish, Virginia Mullet, Spot and plenty of other prized fish.
The primary fishing techniques employed for inshore fishing includes Spinning, Bottom drifting and Sight Casting. Our boats are equipped with over the consol Sight Towers, which provides our guides with an exceptional fish sighting capability. The common inshore fish targeted as part of our fishing charters include Summer, Winter and Southern Flounder, Redfish (Red Drum), Speckled Trout, Sheepshead and many more. The prices of our inshore fishing charters will vary according to the duration of the trip.
4 hour half day inshore fishing $300 dollars
6 hour three-quarter day inshore fishing $400 dollars
8 hour full day inshore fishing $500 dollars
Near-shore coastal Fishing
Our near shore fishing charters are also meant for light tackle fishing. Fish varieties such as Redfish (Red Drum), Bonito, Cobia, Spanish mackerel, Gray Trout, Flounder, Black Sea Bass etc. are targeted as part of the Near-shore coastal fishing charters. The technique of fishing for such varieties depends on the kind of fish being targeted. The primary techniques used for our near shore fishing range from Bottom Jigging, low speed Trolling to Surface Casting. The near shore coastal fishing charters typically are within 5 miles of the offshore range. The costs of the near shore depend on the duration of the fishing charters.

All Charters Include Our
fishing charters provide bait, ice, blanket North Carolina fishing license,
fish cleaning, fuel, rods, tackle, reels, soft drinks and water.
Each angler will also receive a Catch certificate as well as photos,
which will be emailed in 24 hours of your catch, wet gear and much more
is also provided free of additional charge.

What to Bring With You
Although Wet Gear is provided in the event of sudden showers etc, it
is recommended that you bring along a sweat shirt or light jacket for night,
and early morning charters
Sunscreen (If you forget there is always a supply on the boat)
Lip Balm
Hat (Heat Stroke protection and makes you look cool) Not to worry
if you forget we will give you one anyway.
None Marking Soled Shoes (Deck Shoes, and Crocks work well,
and so do any brand of sneaker shoe that does not have black soles)
Sunglasses to cut water glare and protect your eyesight. Polarized are a must
for sight fishing.

individual has. Speck-Tackler Sport Fishing goes to great lengths to design
every fishing charter to fit the experience and comfort levels of each participant.
Before each and every charter your captain will thoroughly explain what that
particular charter will be like so that each individual is well informed about
what they are about to experience. Great care and dedication go into providing
a safe, comfortable fishing experience. After all, safety is the most
important aspect of each and every Speck-Tackler Sport Fishing
charter's.
Speck-Tackler Sport Fishing provides instruction in basic fishing
techniques relevant to the days fishing goals at the beginning of each charter. Further
instruction and guidance is also constantly available from the Speck-Tackler
Sport Fishing captain while on the water and even after the charter to insure
that everyone walks away from each trip with an increased knowledge base.
Speck-Tackler Sport Fishing uses only the finest equipment and tackle available
during each and every fishing charter. Before and after each charter
Speck-Tackler Sport Fishing thoroughly examines all equipment and tackle for
defects or damage. Any damaged equipment is evaluated and either repaired or
discarded and replaced. At no time will Speck-Tackler Sport Fishing use inferior
equipment or tackle. All equipment and tackle used comes from manufacturers who
have a reputation for quality such as Heritage Kayaks, St. Croix Rods and Shimano
Reels.

Do you require a deposit when I book a Charter or Tour
Yes. Due to the high number of requests Speck-Tackler Sport Fishing requires a deposit of $50.00 to secure your
trip.
What if I have no fishing experience?
Speck-Tackler Sport Fishing will give basic fishing instruction
too customers before their charter to insure a level of comfort for each
participant. Throughout the duration of the charter your captain will be readily
available to answer any questions and give further fishing
instruction as needed. Furthermore, Speck-Tackler Sport Fishing goes to great
lengths to custom fit each charter to the fishing abilities of the
customers and not put you in situations beyond your ability.
Do I need a fishing license?
No. Each participant is covered by the vessels group NC saltwater fishing license.
What is provided during my charter?
What do I need to bring?
Speck-Tackler Sport Fishing recommends that all customers bring a hat,
polarized sunglasses, sun block, sturdy water shoes or sandals that will
remain on if wading, protective clothing that can get wet as well as protect
from the sun, snacks, and water or other non-alcoholic beverages.
Can I bring alcohol?
No. For the safety of everyone involved alcohol is not allowed
while on the water.
Can I bring my own gear?
Yes. Speck-Tackler Sport Fishing does allow customers to bring their own
gear such as, rods, and tackle but is not responsible for any damage
or loss of property as well as any personal injury resulting from equipment not owned by Speck-Tackler Sport Fishing LLC.
Can I target a specific fish?
Yes. After all if this is your charter and Speck-Tackler Sport Fishing
will do our best to put you on the fish you want to catch. Please inform
Speck-Tackler Sport Fishing of your request when booking your charter
Can I keep fish?
Yes. Speck-Tackler Sport Fishing promotes the practice of catch and release
fishing but will allow customers to harvest fish in accordance with North
Carolina law. Please practice environmentally conscience angling ethics and
only take enough fish for a meal or two. If you aren't going to eat them
please practice catch and release.
What if the trip is cancelled due to bad weather?
Should weather cause a trip to be cancelled Speck-Tackler Sport Fishing
will give you the option of either rescheduling your trip for a later date or
a refund of your deposit.
Do you guarantee that I will catch fish?
So many things can influence a fishing trips success that you need to be
weary of guides that guarantee you will catch fish. Many of these guides consider
trash fish as a catch and will not work as hard for your success. Speck-Tackler
Sport Fishing does not have any such guarantee but will work as hard as possible
to insure your success while on the water. Here at Speck-Tackler Sport Fishing
a day of catching trash fish is not considered a successful day and we will only
target game fish.
